Track Record

What this work looks like in practice.

The experience behind Bridgework comes from 18 years of leading data governance and privacy operations at ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Here are three examples, led by our founder, Tealisha Williams.

01
Privacy · Legal + IT

Protecting donor trust across seven states

The situation

The Colorado Privacy Act was coming, with more state privacy laws close behind. Treating every new law as its own project would have stretched Legal and IT thin.

What the team did

With leadership's support, our founder's team led the work at ALSAC and served as the link between Legal and IT. They turned what they built into a shared set of core requirements.

Outcome

That model brought seven states on board before their deadlines and kept the focus where it belonged: on the trust donors place in the organization.

02
Data catalog · Adoption

Getting people to actually use the data catalog

The situation

Data catalogs stall for a predictable reason. The subject matter experts a catalog depends on are already stretched thin, and nothing about it tells them what's in it for them.

What the team did

The approach that worked at ALSAC: one-on-one work with each team, contests and awards that recognized contributors, and a training community where people learned from each other.

Outcome

Enrollment improved once people saw the value for themselves.

03
Governance · Data ownership

Proving data ownership on a real use case

The situation

A new data ownership model is a hard sell in the abstract. Teams rarely take one on until they can see it working on data they already care about.

What the team did

The team proved it on one domain first, with a volunteer data proof of concept, then carried what worked into other domains.

Outcome

That became ALSAC's first enterprise data governance program, spanning more than seven data domains.
